E-Day

It's almost 7pm here in Seattle. Watching CNN, and am feeling my early rush of excitement turn to concern. CNN is all but fawning over the GOP - or maybe I should say that the GOP continues to work the press perfectly on election day. We saw this in 2000. For instance - I've been tuned in for the last two hours and have seen two GOP staffers give interviews and some news reel of W in the White House babbling about feeling optimistic (not the word he used). Nary a quote from the Kerry camp. Where is he? Why isn't he rallying the troops? The polls are still open on this coast - maybe a message would provide a slight bump in NV.

Now CNN is talking about what the Kerry camp needs to pull this out - precisely the type of language the press used in 2000, and precisely what media analysts (or K. H. Jamieson, at least) contend contributed to the vote/Court eventually swaying to Bush.

Oh, and one other thing. When CNN reports that a state goes to Bush, they say, "Another state for the President." Couldn't they call him by name?

My people say, "Ugh."

Where is OH? FL? Please, swing states, don't let us down.
