If You Could See Me Now...

I'm getting my hairs done right now. In a stroke of Millennial genius my salon installed WiFi, so I can blog to my heart's content while chemi-peeling the color from my follicles. Fun!

I was on my way to the office this morning as the new Pope took the helm. I had goosebumps and got teary when my NPR friend said, "The Chilean is coming to the balcony now..." I thought, "Yes! A Chilean Pope! A third-world-friendly Papa!" It turned out that he was just introducing the new German pope. Oh well. I was thrilled at the prospect of a religious leader from a poverty-stricken world; Such a leader might press foreign governments to tread lightly upon the developing world. Maybe that will still happen - John Paul II was great about issues of poverty and capitalism, and this new pope was a close confidant of JPII. We'll see.

I hear Sister Helen Prejean on the radio this morning. She, best known for her "Dead Man Walking" experiences, went on a perfectly-articulated tirade about the moral and ethical issues of poverty and capitalism in America. The interview with her was interrupted by the emerging new pontiff, which was perfect timing. You can listen to the interview with her here.

On that profound note, I'm off to get shampooed.
